We aim to create a friendly non-political environment in which everyone is valued equally for their ideas and contributions. After all this is our hobby, and we are out to enjoy ourselves.
When we are on show, everyone is expected to fulfill their role, whether it is helping to setting up or dismantling the tents and displays, or talking to the public.

If you are interested in joining us, by far the best way to decide whether our society or indeed living history appeals to you, is to come along to one of our events and talk to us, alternatively you can download this leaflet (822 KB) which summerize information about our activity; you can print it double side on an A4 sheet and bend it in three. Legio VIII Augusta has public liability insurance, however prospective members are advised to ensure that they have adequate personal cover in the event of personal injury caused to themselves as a result of their participation in society events.
