Legio VIII Augusta
was formed originally in North Wales. From small beginnings, our membership
is now drawn from much of Britain, and beyond.
We are now counted by our peers to be amongst the top re-enactment societies
representing our chosen period.
We do a lot more
than military re-enactment and fighting...
After all, there was a lot more to Roman Britain than soldiers, and we aim to
present the broadest possible picture of life in our chosen period. We haven't
done everything yet, but as we attract new members, we do all that we can to
help them achieve whatever they set out to do.
Our civilian membership includes all types of people, from the owner of a tavern, through to Romanised native Britons, and even some roman citizens who have come to this out-of-the-way province from further afield.
We hope that our experience may be a motivation to improve for other people who share the same interest and we try to improve ourselves by taking example from somebody else's experience. We are always eager to receive comments or critics; that is why we invite you to tell us your opinion.
